Job Overview: Community Mobilizer
Job Title: Community Mobilizer
Location: Bun Yadi, Yobe State

The Community Mobilizer will play a key role in community engagement, awareness creation, and information dissemination under a UNDP-supported reintegration and peacebuilding project. The role focuses on strengthening communication between the project and affected populations while promoting inclusive participation and access to services.
Key Responsibilities of the Community Mobilizer
- Community Engagement & Information Sharing
- Lead community outreach activities to share accurate information on project services, entitlements, and feedback mechanisms.
- Conduct regular sensitization sessions using FAQs to address community concerns.
- Support beneficiary selection messaging and ensure communities are informed about eligibility, locations, and timelines.
- Use appropriate local communication channels such as community radio, posters, and mobile announcements.
- Collaboration with Community Structures
- Work closely with women groups, youth groups, peace clubs, VSLAs, traditional and religious leaders, and local influencers.
- Coordinate outreach activities with Local Government Authorities (LGAs).
- Support capacity building for peace clubs and local peace committees on dialogue and conflict resolution.
Mentorship & Community Support
- Mentor community volunteers, peer support groups, and Rapid Response Committees.
- Train community groups on early warning systems, emergency response, and effective communication strategies.
- Encourage participation of NSAG, VSLAs, and community-based organizations in awareness campaigns.
Referrals & Service Linkages
- Facilitate referrals to protection, health, education, and livelihood service providers.
- Follow up on referred cases and document feedback to improve service delivery.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Document outreach activities, attendance, and community feedback.
- Contribute to reports, success stories, and case studies.
- Support learning and program improvement through accurate documentation.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be eligible for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Diploma or degree in Sociology, Community Development, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years experience in community mobilization or outreach
- Fluency in Hausa and/or Kanuri (mandatory)
- Strong communication, facilitation, and teamwork skills
- Must be a resident of Bun Yadi, Yobe State
- Willingness to travel frequently to rural communities
- Commitment to gender equality and conflict-sensitive programming
